With good snow hanging on into late March the K300 Race Committee will hold a Rookie Race for the first time in several years. The Fun Run will begin at 6:30 PM on Tuesday, March 30th. Tentative plans are for the mass start to take place in the same area where our competitive races began this season, near the mouth of the small boat harbor. This may change depending on race-day conditions.
There is a 5 dog limit. Teams will run up Straight Slough then turn around the island and head back towards Bethel on the main river. There is no need to register in advance. Kennel owners should simply recruit their rookie mushers and show up at race time on Tuesday. Rookie mushers must be true rookies who have never competed in a race. This event is intended for adult rookies - we hope to have a kids race for those under 17 soon. A final note: costumes and general silliness are welcome!
