The 2021 Akiak Dash will take place on Saturday, February 13th and will begin with a mass start at 2pm. Registration is now open for Dash mushers.
There are some notable changes to the Akiak Dash this year. There will be no Akiak checkpoint and there will be no 1-hour required layover. Mushers will not be permitted to drop dogs at any point in the race. There will be race officials at the halfway point but teams will not be required to stop.
Mushers will follow the K300 trail upriver and will make a loop around the big island below Akiak before returning to Bethel on the same trail.
