With winter weather hanging on into April and our purse races completed we have a chance to resume some great traditions. First up, the K300 Kids Championship!
The Kids Race will take place this Sunday, April 7 and will begin at 1pm with a Mass Start on the river near Bethel. Racers must be between 10 and 17 years old and will compete for a purse of $1,000. There is a 5 dog limit for this event. From the start line teams will head up Straight Slough, turn right and run around the island back towards Bethel. Enjoy hot dogs, a bonfire and a brief awards ceremony at the finish line! No registration is required.
Next we aim to hold the beloved "Rookie Race", open to any racer over 17 who has never participated in a sled dog race before. We're tentatively planning this for Thursday, April 11th with a mass start at 6:30 PM. We'll keep an eye on trail conditions and provide an update next week.
