The 2022 Akiak Dash begins Saturday at 2pm with a mass start near the small boat harbor (not at the K300 Start/Finish) in Bethel. 17 teams will compete for a total purse of $30,000 in the 60 mile race to Akiak and back.
Racers will follow the K300 trail up the Kuskokwim then the Gweek but Dash mushers will split off the K300 trail at the Akiachak portage trail. From Akiachak they will stay on the river to Akiak, looping around the big island below the village.
There will be no layover in the Akiak Dash this year.
