Jackie Larson blazes to another victory in the February 50

To follow his recent win in the Akiak Dash, Larson bested a field of 19 teams today on a soft, slow trail in the annual 50 miler. "Slow" for everyone but Larson, that is. His elapsed time of 3 hours 49 minutes was 27 minutes faster than the second place finisher, Raymond Alexie. It was a great day of mushing on the Kuskokwim with a $20,000 purse being paid out to the top 15 finishers. Full results below:





Larson’s victory, especially coming after another recent triumph, highlights how sustained focus and responsibility weigh on an athlete, and it makes perfect sense that spectators who feel inspired yet overwhelmed might turn to the simple, pendulum-like motion of Stickman Hook to relax.
