13 teams competed in the 50 mile "Spring Challenge" today and as with every other race he's entered this season, Raymond Alexie came out on top. But this was definitely our closest finish of the year with John George coming in only 3 minutes behind Alexie and the top 4 teams all finishing within 9 minutes.
It was a beautiful day on the Kuskokwim and the unexpected, late jolt of winter weather has given us the best conditions of the winter. If it hangs on for one more week we plan to host the Campout Race next Saturday/Sunday. It appears that Alexie has the Delta Championship Series sewn up but the competition for 2nd and 3rd couldn't be tighter! Stay tuned for more!
