It was a windy day on the Kuskokwim, with 20 teams competing for a $20,000 purse in the annual "Holiday Classic", a 50 mile race sponsored by the K300 Race Committee. Greg Larson won the day and takes home a prize of $2,700. He held off Jason Pavila, winner of last week's "Season Opener", who finished only 4 minutes behind. Full results below.
Once again, mushers adhered to numerous Covid-19 safety modifications and the event went smoothly. We had more spectators out this week who mainly stayed in their vehicles or with snow machines. Social distancing and mask requirements were observed. Also, we saw a huge response to our expanded live-streaming effort - as of this writing the Facebook video of today's mass start has been viewed 4,400 times! Next up, the Bogus Creek 150 on January 23rd. More on that soon!
