The Bogus Creek 150, with a purse of $100,000, will now begin on Saturday, February 22. The race had previously been rescheduled for February 8 but with the postponement of the K300 and the Akiak Dash to that weekend the Race Committee to push the 150 back yet again.
Some will recall that for many years the K300, BC150 and Akiak Dash all took place during the same weekend each year. During the Covid-19 pandemic we altered our schedule and gave the 150 its own weekend for the first time. What we discovered is that by splitting that race off participation increased for all three events and, of course, local mushers had more opportunities to race and compete for prize money. Even with all of the challenges we've faced this year, we continue to believe that giving those racers the chance to participate in the Bogus Creek 150 AND the K300 or Akiak Dash is in the best interest for all local kennels.
Next up: the 46th Annual K300 on Friday, February 7 and the Akiak Dash on Saturday February 8!
Registration for the Akiak Dash will be announced very soon.
Registration for the Bogus Creek 150 will open some time after K300 race weekend.
