Alexie wins the first Delta Championship Series

When we announced the new Delta Championship Series last fall, we never imagined that one team could be nearly as dominant as the Alexie Racing Kennel has been this year, winning all six Series races AND the Akiak Dash. In fact, after consulting with our resident Kuskokwim mushing historians, no team in recent history has had a streak of success that compares. Over the course of over 4 months, in races ranging from 32 miles to 150, in all manner of conditions and against some of the toughest competition in the world, no one came especially close to beating 19-year old Raymond Alexie. With that remarkable racing season, Alexie becomes the first winner of the Delta Championship Series by a wide margin. As champion, he receives a $5,000 credit with Underdog Feeds in Wasilla, AK as well as a $1,000 freight credit with Northern Air Cargo.

The Tagalong Kennel, with racers John George, Jim George and Darren George finished second after an impressive streak of second place finishes in our last three events. They receive a $500 freight credit with Northern Air Cargo.

Mike Williams, Jr. of the Williams Racing Kennel finished third and receives a $250 freight credit with Northern Air Cargo.

Complete final standings are listed below.

We'd like to thank the many volunteers and sponsors who made our racing season such great success, especially Delta Championship Series sponsors Underdog Feeds and Northern Air Cargo.
