He’s done it again! Congratulations to Ray Nose of Akiachak on winning the Akiak Dash for the second year in a row. Ray is sponsored by Akiachak IRA. Despite the rough season of training in which temperatures were often too cold to train sprint dogs, Ray braved today’s -50 degree windchill to pass all 14 of his competitors. Ray ran the approximately 70 mile race with an average speed of 12.17 mph. Maurice Andrews of Bethel came in second only 1 minute and 10 seconds behind Ray. Maurice was racing for Simon Kennel and is sponsored by GEO Care and the Eggiman’s. In third place, Johnny Evan of Napaskiak crossed the finish line with an elapsed time of 5:52:30. |
